Jesus is a gentleman!
The church in Laodicea had problems, massive problems. Jesus assessed it as lukewarm and under false impressions. They had locked Him out. Jesus appeals to this blind congregation:
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with Me. (Revelation 3:20)
Jesus is a gentleman! He has always been one, always will be!
As with congregations Jesus too kindly knocks on the door to individual hearts. He does this to present a significant and life changing gift - Himself. Too often He is denied, delayed, dismissed or simply ignored - that is not as it should be.
He knocks where smug sinners sit or 'broken jars' weep.
How willing are they to hear the voice of Jesus, to open the door of their heart obediently and without reserve? In blind pride they fail to grasp the urgency.
Because of His great mercy and glorious grace Jesus comes and stands knocking upon locked hearts, eagerly anticipating that He will be permitted accommodation.
Men forget that knocking on doors are finite, and must realize they are the only ones who can turn the handle.

Don't let pride get in the way of the best decision a person could ever make.
